As a Fort Worth newborn photographer, on occasion I have been lucky enough to conduct an in-home newborn photography session in my neighborhood. This is one of those special sessions. Through planning and preparation I can create a beautiful light filled gallery for your newborn session.

Anytime I consult with moms prior to their in home newborn session, one of the first items we cover is which areas in their home receive the most natural light during mid-morning hours.This beautiful updated ranch style home had gorgeous natural light in three locations within the home. This not only helps me plan your images, it helps you narrow down which areas of your home need to be prepared for your in-home newborn session.

Speaking of planning your in-home newborn photography session around lighting, one thing I monitor constantly prior to your session is the weather. If there is more than a small percentage of rain forecasted the day of your session or if the visibility forecast is low due to clouds or fog, we will look at rescheduling your session. I know that can be frustrating, however, my goal with your in home newborn photography session is to have beautiful light filled images. If the weather does not allow for this, then we will reschedule. 

I love using natural light as a tool in my client’s homes to create different styles of images, all in one gallery. If you have a large window with bright light, we can use it to highlight lots of fun activities like dancing and twirling. If you have slightly muted light, those could be areas we use for sweet snuggles and quiet moments like reading a favorite storybook.

A supporting cast of maximizing the lighting opportunities in your home is your clothing choices. Choosing lighter colored clothing for the majority of people in your family allows for the light to subtly bounce off your clothing and onto your face or your children’s faces. It isn’t a huge factor, but choosing lighter colored clothing will help create light, airy images. This mom chose a dress similar to this one and it was the perfect balance of light, color, and comfort.
