What is a Milestone Session?

Milestone Sessions arevshort, simple session meant to capture your little one’s growth and development over the first 2 years of life. As you are aware, children change so much in the first few years. Just think how amazing how fast your child changes from birth to one year. As a mom to three girls, my oldest is 18, and when I look back at her as a toddler, it is truly remarkable how quickly time passes.

Milestone photography sessions are a perk for my newborn clients. I love capturing your child as they reach so many milestones from sitting up, to their crawl, and even their first wobbly steps. Milestones are an amazing way to document your child’s growth.

Milestone Photo Options

To begin, I give my clients the option of two types of Milestone Session. You can choose a simple session in your home, outdoors, or in a studio and the session is focused on capturing your little one. This session is approximately 25 minutes. 

The second option for a milestone session is to have a family milestone session. It is exactly as it sounds. I spend some time focusing just on your child, then the whole family can join in and participate. It is very similar to a mini session. This session is approximately 35 minutes.

A Family Milestone Session

A family milestone session is a wonderful opportunity to document your little ones growth. Typical milestone sessions capture six most., nine most., and one year.  I recent conducted a family milestone session for a nine month old and it was the most fun!

I was able to capture his incessant need to crawl and move. His curiosity with my camera. Also, how he played with mom, and his favorite thing to do with dad that almost always results in smiles and giggles. Furthermore, I think I had just as much fun as this little one. It was the first time I had seen him since his newborn session. It never gets old to witness how quickly babies grow and develop. You could definitely see his little personality and the confidence his parents had in engaging with him.

Also, by having mom and dad participate in the session, they now have several updated photographs to add to their family’s gallery wall and to give as gifts with mother’s day and father’s day approaching. It truly is a win-win!
