In home lifestyle photography is one of my favorite ways to photograph families. I cherish the time I spend with my clients in their homes, photographing their families. The best part is when I first arrive at your home and your older children give me a tour of their home. They are so proud to share their space and I love to capture your family where your memories are created.
However, there are so things that I do not do as an in-home lifestyle photographer. One thing you will not see me use are props. I do not use any type of prop to pose your newborn baby. I prefer to use more meaningful ways to photograph your newborn. Of course that means you and your family will be holding your baby the majority of your session. Also, if the light is available, I will place your baby in their crib, bassinet, or on a special blanket to capture even more of their sweet little details.
Another item I have not used during an in home lifestyle photography session is a flash or artificial light. Prior to a session, I schedule a phone call with my clients and we discuss which rooms in your home provide the best natural light. Many clients text me pictures of their homes during different times of the day which allows me to determine what areas we will use. I love the look of natural light streaming through windows and lighting the scene. To me, it is beautiful and a more authentic look for your images to have the natural play of sun and shadow.
Finally and probably the most obvious, in my photography sessions you and your family will not be sitting still. I love to see movement in images. It can be walking through the room, swaying with your newborn, or dancing with your young children. Movement is one of the great ways to tell your story through your photographs. I want to see your family’s personality come to life in your images. I want to capture what you enjoy doing together as a family.
